Lesson #53—-Jesus as King of the World for 1000 Years (Millennium)

*Millennium–1000 Years

Jesus as King of the World for 1000 Years

** Then a time for Satan to be in the World again

***Then Satan in Hell

****Then a New Heaven and New Earth

Joyce Webb 2013

At the end of time, Jesus will return to the earth again. He will come to save the nation of Israel.

Several nations will come against Israel to destroy it.

But God will not let them! Jesus will come Himself in person down to earth.

He will destroy the armies coming against Israel.

He will stay on earth for 1000 years to rule as the King of the world. He will rule from Jerusalem.

H e will rule over the whole world!

For 1000 years there will be peace on earth.

Every nation’s leader will obey Jesus the King. All the people of the world will obey Jesus.

This is The Second Coming of Jesus

During this 1000 years Satan will be tied up in chains in the lower parts of the earth to wait. Revelation 20:2 He is not in the lake of fire yet. That will be later.

For 1000 years Satan will not be here to tempt people to sin.

In the Old Testament, in many places, it tells of the Messiah (Jesus) who will come and be the King over Israel’s people.

Isaiah 9:6                 Isaiah tells about Jesus being born. He will someday be Ruler of the World.

Vs. 6 A child will be born for us.

A son will be given to us.

The government will rest on his shoulders.

He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

Vs. 7 His government and peace will grow to be great.

He will set up David’s throne and kingdom.

He will rule with justice and righteousness now and forever.

Isaiah speaks of the Messiah/Jesus will be a “Branch” coming out of God’s people Israel.

Israel has been cut down—-like a tree. Israel as a nation would not obey God’s laws. They kept worshipping idols. So God let other nations come in and rule over them. God also let nations come and take away the people to other countries as captives.

Like a tree is cut down, Israel was cut down. When you cut down a tree, you have a stump left. A stump does not grow again. But once in awhile, with some trees a twig begins to grow out of the side.

God is saying that out of the stump of Israel will grow a twig ”branch” and it will grow big and strong—-like a new tree.

Jesus will be this “branch”. He will come out of Israel. Israel is a very small nation today. But someday, when Jesus comes to rule as king, Jerusalem will rule the whole world.

Israel became a nation again————-after almost 2000 years of not being a nation. In 1948, they became a nation again. That is only 65 years now.

Isaiah said long ago that Israel would become a nation again in one day. Isaiah 66:8

“Shall the earth bring forth a nation in one day?” It happened in 1948. In one day, Israel was given the power and the right to be a nation.

Through the years Jews have been moved to almost every nation. There are many Jews in Europe, Russia, United States, Ethiopia, and many other nations. But some day, God will bring all the Jews back to their homeland. They will live in Israel once again.

There are many churches and Christian groups that send money to help pay for airplane tickets for hundreds of Jews so they can go back to Israel.

Some day God will bring them all home to Israel.

In these next verses, Isaiah talks about this Branch–Messiah/Jesus coming to rule as king someday.

Isaiah 11: 1-5

Vs. 1 Then a shoot will come out from the stump of Jesse. (King David’s father)

And a branch will have fruit.

Vs. 2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him

The Spirit of wisdom and understanding.

The Spirit of advice and power,

The Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord.

Vs. 3 He will gladly bear the fear of the Lord.

He will not judge by the way things look, or make a decision on just what other people say.

He will not take advantage of the poor, but he will do right to them.

He will rule the earth with the words from his mouth.

He will destroy the wicked with the words from his lips.

Zechariah 6: 12-15

“This is what the Lord Almighty says:

Here is the man whose name is Branch.

He will branch out from where he is, and he will rebuild the Lord’s temple.

He will rebuild the Lord’s temple and receive royal honor.

He will sit and rule from his throne. He will be a priest on his throne. He will be able to be both priest and king.

Many people from far away lands will come and build in the Lord’s temple.

Then you will know the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.

Isaiah 2: 2-4

In the last days the Temple of the Lord will be the most important place on earth. People from all over the world will go there to worship.

People will say: Let us go up to the mountain and the Temple of the Lord, the house of the God of Israel.

He will teach us his ways so that we may live by them.

The word of the Lord and his teachings will go out from Jerusalem.

He will judge argument between nations, and settle arguments between many people.

The people will use the metal from their sword to make plows to farm with.—-they will not need swords any more.

They will use the metal from their spears to make shears (scissors) to prune bushes—they will not need spears any more.

The nations will never fight against each other, they will not practice for war.

Isaiah 25: 6-8

On this mountain of the Lord Almighty he will prepare for all people

a feast with the best foods, a banquet with aged wines,

He will take away all grief and sorrow for all the people.

He will take away death forever. He will wipe away all tears.

He will take away the “name-calling” and bad feelings people have against the Jewish people.

Isaiah 35: 1-10

The desert (dry land) will be glad. It will grow plants. It will be like a flower blooming. It will be a happy place. A growing place.

Water will flow into the desert, and rivers will run into the wilderness. The hot sand will become a pool, and the dry ground will have water springs coming up from the ground.

The eyes of the blind will see. and the ears of the deaf will hear. And those who are crippled will walk and jump like deer, and those who can not speak will shout for joy!

A highway (road) will be there. It will be called the Highway of Holiness.

Only the righteous will walk on it. No evil person will walk there.

No lions or wild animals will wait to hurt.

The people redeemed (saved) by the Lord will walk there.

The will come into the city of Zion (Jerusalem) singing songs of joy.

They will be full of joy and happiness.

They will have no sorrow or grief.

Isaiah 60; 1-21

Look up, city of Jerusalem. Look all of your people are coming home! Your sons and your daughters!

They will bring much riches with them. Men of all kinds of work, those who sell things, will come to you. You will be a great rich city.

People from far away nations will come to Jerusalem and they will rebuilt the cities of Israel.

Your gates will always be open. They will never close. People will bring in riches from all over the world.

Vs. 12 The nations that will not serve you their nation will not succeed it will fail.

Vs. 14 All those who at one time hated you they will now come and bow down before you.

They will call you the City of the Lord, Zion. The City of the Holy One.

Vs.16 You will have the favor of kings around the world. You will receive riches and honor from them.

Vs. 17 Instead of brass you will have gold, instead of iron you will have silver instead of wood you will have brass instead of stones you will have iron.

(In other words, the buildings will not be wood and stone. They will be of the most expensive things.)

Vs. 18 There will be no more violence (fighting, killing, beatings). The city will be called Peace and Righteousness.

Vs. 19 The sun and moon will not be needed for light. The Lord himself will be an everlasting light. The days of sorrow are finished.

Vs.. 21 All of the people will be righteous and the land will belong to them forever.

Vs. 22 At the right time, I , the Lord, will make it all happen quickly.

Micah 4: 1-3

In the last days the Temple of the Lord will be the most important place on earth.

Many people from all over the world will come to it. They will say, Come let us to up to the mountain of the Lord, the Lord’s Temple. He will teach us his ways. And we will walk in his ways. The Lord’s law and teachings will go out from Zion.

He will be the judge for many people. He will judge nations far away.

People will take their swords and make them into plows. They will take their spears and make them into pruning scissors. There will be no more fighting among nations.

Zechariah 14: 3-7

The Mount of Olives will be split (divided) in two, half of the mountain will move to the north, and half to the south. A valley will be in between going east and west.

On that day it will be light all the time, In the evening, it will still be light.

Zechariah 14: 8-9

On that day living water ( water that gives life, fresh water) will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it will flow into the Dead Sea (the Dead Sea is so salty no fish live in it, but after the fresh water flows into it the water in the Dead Sea will be good and fish will live in it.). The other half of the living water will flow into the Mediterranean Sea.

Vs. 9 The Lord will be king over all the earth.

On that day The Lord will be the only Lord and he only will be worshipped.

Zechariah 14: 16-19

After the plague (sickness) that comes on the enemies of Israel Everyone who is still alive from all the nations will come every year to worship the King— the Lord Almighty.

They will come to celebrate the Festival of Booths.

If any of the families on the earth will not go to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, then rain will not fall on their land.

If the people of Egypt will not go to Jerusalem or enter there, then rain will not fall on their land.

Jerusalem will rise and remain on its site.

People will live there, and it will never fear destruction. Jerusalem will be safe

Isaiah 19: 18-24

When that day comes, five cities in Egypt will have people that speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord Almighty. One of the cities will be called Heliopolis.

When that day come, an altar for the Lord will be in the middle of Egypt.

A stone marker for the Lord will be near its border.

These things will be a sign and the witness that the Lord Almighty is in Egypt.

So the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians. The Egyptians will know the Lord. When that day comes, they will worship with sacrifices and food offerings. They will make promises to the Lord and they will do the promises.

When that day comes, a highway will run from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will come to Egypt and the Egyptians will go to Assyria., the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians.

When that day comes, Israel will be one-third of God’s people, along with Egypt and Assyria. They will be a blessing on the earth.

After this 1000 years is done. Satan will be allowed to be free again.

For a time we do not know for how long the Bible does not say.

Revelation 20: 3, and 7 Vs. 8 He goes out and stirs up many nations to go to war against Israel. Vs. 9 But God will send fire from heaven and it kills them all.

Vs. 10 Then Satan is thrown into the lake of fire Vs. 11-15          All people who have died, and all people still living will stand before God and be judged. All those who do not have their name written in the Book of Life will go to the lake of fire with Satan.

(There is one group of people who will not be judged at that time. Those are the Christian believers who went up in the rapture when Jesus came in the clouds and took them up to heaven with him. Those people do not need to have their sins judged.   Their sins have been forgiven. They will be have received rewards in heaven for their goods works.)

Then a new heaven and a new earth will be made.

This earth will be no more.

Mark 13: 31,32 says: Heaven and earth will pass away.

A New Jerusalem

Revelation 21:1 John is writing:

“And I say a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and earth were passed away. There was no more sea.

And , I, John saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven. It was beautiful like a bride ready to meet her husband.

I heard a loud voice saying: Look, the tabernacle of God is with men. He will live with them, They will be his people. God, himself, will be with them, He will be their God.

And God will wipe away all their tears. There will be no more death. There will be no more sorrow, or crying, and no more pain.

He that sat on the throne said: I will make all things new.

He said to me (John) Write down what I say. These things are true.

And he said to me: It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega (Greek letters for A and Z.) I am the Beginning and the End. I will give to him that is thirsty the water of life.

Vs. 9 One of the seven angels……….came to me and said, “ Come! I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb. (The bride is the group of believers in Jesus–they are the people who make up the city of the New Jerusalem.)

He carried me away to a large high mountain.

Vs. 10 He showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven.

Vs. 11 It had the glory of God. Its light was like a valuable gem, like jasper, as clear as crystal.

It had a large high wall with 12 gates. 12 angels were at the gates.

The names of the 12 tribes of Israel were written on the gates.

There were 3 gates on the east, 3 gates on the west, 3 gates on the north, 3 gates on the south.

The wall of the city had 12 foundations. The names of the 12 apostles were written on them.

The angel who was talking to me had a gold measuring stick to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. The city is square. It was as wide as it was long. It was 12,000 furlongs. (That is 1400 miles! 1400 miles long, 1400 miles wide, 1400 miles high.)

(It is a cube with levels going up into the air.)

He measured the wall. It was 144 cubits. (200 feet thick!) It was made of jasper.

The city was made of pure gold, as clear as glass.

The foundations of the city wall were beautiful. They were decorated with all kinds of gems. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate,

the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth red quartz, the seventh yellow quartz, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth green quartz, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.

The 12 gates were 12 pearlsEach gate was made of one pearl.

The street of the city was made of pure gold, as clear as glass.

I (John) did not see any temple in it, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple.

The city does not need any sun or moon to give light because the glory of God gave it light. The Lamb was its light.

The nations will walk in it light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor to it.

Its gates will be open all day. They will never close because there won’t be any night there.

Nothing unclean no on sinful or bad and no liars will ever enter it. Only those who have their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will enter in.

Isaiah 54:11

Isaiah said this almost 900 years before John saw his vision.

“I will lay a foundation of stones of beautiful colors—with sapphires—windows of agatesgates of carbuncles and all your walls will be of beautiful stones.”

(A carbuncle is a puffy blister sore. In an oyster when it get a tiny piece of sand or dirt in it it makes a watery, creamy stuff around it so it does not hurt any more. This white creamy stiff gets hard. When we find it in a oyster we call it a pearl. Strange—that a sore place in an oyster—-becomes a beautiful pearl.)

Isaiah 65: 17-25

I will create a new heaven and a new earth.

Past things will not be remembered. They will not come to mind.

Be glad, and be happy forever in what I am going to create (make).

Because I am going to make Jerusalem to be a wonderful place and its people will be full of joy.

I will be happy about Jerusalem and be happy about my people.

Weeping and crying will no more be heard in the city.

No more will a baby live for only a few days.

Nor a man who does not live long.

Whoever is one hundred years old will be thought of as young,

Whoever dies before he is one hundred would be thought to be a sinner.

(This last sentence is hard to understand. It makes it sound like people may die. I have check several books that explain Bible verses, and they did not explain it. One book did not try to explain it—it just quoted the Hebrew words. I guess the meaning is not the same when you change it from the Hebrew to English.

We know that we will have eternal life with Jesus. So I guess, this sentence is just trying to say people will live a long, long time.

In the New Testament, Jesus talked about “eternal“ life a lot. In the Old Testament we do not see the words “eternal life“ very often.

So maybe “eternal life“ is something the Old Testament people did not think about, so God through Isaiah is trying to show how long people will live in the New Jerusalem.)

Vs. 21 They will build houses and live there. They will plant vineyards and eat fruit from them.

No one will take their homes from them. No one will take their gardens from them.

My people will live as long as a tree.

They will never again work like a slave.

They will never give birth to children who die young.

Their children will be blessed by the Lord.

The Lord will bless their children, too. And their, children.

Vs. 25 Wolves and lambs will feed together.

Lions will eat straw like oxen.

And dust will be food for snakes

These animals will not hurt or destroy anyone anywhere on my holy mountain, says the Lord.

Isaiah 11: 6-9

Wolves will live with lambs.

Leopards will lie down with goats.

Calves, young lions, and year-old lambs will be together,

And little children will lead them.

Cows and bears will eat together.

Their young will lie down together.

Lions will eat straw like oxen.

Babies will play near the holes of poisonous snakes.

Little children will put their hands into their nests.

They will not be hurt.

))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

As I have gone over these verses, there are places that seem to be talking about Jerusalem when Jesus rules on the earth for 1000 years. And in the same group of verses it seems it is talking about the New Jerusalem and the New Earth.

I do not understand all of it.. I have studied it. I have read other people’s books.    But not all of the verses are exactly clear as to when they will happen.

So—-I give you these verses to read.            Read them and think about it.

Something wonderful is planned for those who believe and stay true to Jesus.

It will not matter what happens or when. If we are with Jesus—all will be good.
